The Ogden Comm School District board voted to approve a real-estate purchase agreement for out-lot A of Whiting's Addition in the town of Ogden, Boone County, for $127,000.
Superintendent (speaker 1) told the board the roughly 2.5-acre parcel sits on the southeast corner of the middle/high school property and could provide a secondary access point if the district did not acquire it. “If you don't purchase the land now and it's all sudden developed, I don't wanna have a what if, you know, 10, 20 years from now,” the superintendent said during discussion.
Administration recommended paying from SAVE funds (the district's 1¢ sales-tax savings account). The superintendent said the district had an initial agreement to purchase a portion of the land and confirmed with the city manager that, if needed for access, the city would extend a gravel road.
Board member (speaker 3) moved to approve the purchase; a second motion followed and the board recorded affirmative roll-call votes. The motion as presented described the property as out-lot A of Whiting's Addition and listed the purchase price as $127,000.
The acquisition does not include detailed immediate development plans; the superintendent described it as preserving future options, improving safety by adding a secondary route, and avoiding potential development that could limit district choices. The board did not identify a timetable for closing in the meeting.
The board will record the finalized purchase agreement and any closing details in subsequent documentation.
