During the consent-agenda review, a board member asked staff to clarify why a Cary Lanes rent line appears twice on the district's September bill list and noted two separate checks listed against a single total. The board directed staff to investigate the apparent duplicate and report back.
Board members then discussed counseling services for students. A staff member described a proposed arrangement with the Avalon Center and contrasted it with the district's prior relationship with Heart Solutions, which had ended after grant funding and contracting changes. The staff member said Avalon Center currently has employees and is willing to use district space to see students and to bill insurance directly rather than charge the district.
"They're willing to come in and see their own clients and take on new clients and not have to charge us anything," a staff member said when describing the Avalon Center's offer. Board members said the arrangement would allow students access to services without a direct cost to the district, noting that past services were supported by grant funds.
The board approved the consent agenda and asked staff to clarify the billing entry for Cary Lanes on the September list. Staff also reported they have so far spent roughly $5,000 on Motus/MODIS work related to facilities planning and will continue to present detailed briefings to the board.
Next steps: staff will clarify the Cary Lanes billing entries and update the board on the Avalon Center arrangement and any follow-up contract or insurance details.
