The Greene County school board considered and moved to approve a not-to-exceed $1.8 million contract with Deluxe Athletics to construct phase 1 of the Greene County High School baseball field.
A presenter described remaining work for phase 2 as "turf and fence," adding that phase 1 will include upgraded dugouts, a concession and bathroom building and lighting and that crews expected to begin heavier work around Oct. 1. The presenter said the district is negotiating cost savings with the contractor "so we can pull phase 2." Board members asked for clarification about phase-2 costs before proceeding.
The motion to authorize the contract was made, seconded and proceeded to a vote in open session. The motion text in the transcript states the contract is "for an amount not to exceed $1,800,000."
