District to run community survey Dec. 4–21 and highlights 213 Carmel High alumni on staff

Superintendent and staff unveiled a community strategic-plan survey (Dec. 4–21) run by Practical Insights and reported that 213 Carmel High School alumni currently work across the district; listening sessions and focus groups will follow before a draft plan next summer.
Dr. Oestreich presented a staff and student-services report that included a short video and data on Carmel High School alumni now employed across the district and an update on the district’s strategic-plan timeline.
The district’s internal email survey elicited responses from about 213 Carmel High alumni who are currently working in the district, Dr. Oestreich said; alumni were represented at all 15 district schools and nearly half of respondents identified as teachers. "We were able to get them a Carmel alumni T-shirt ... and we got together and took a picture with over 80 alumni that showed up," he said.
Administration announced a community strategic-plan survey to run Dec. 4–21, administered by Practical Insights, which the district said will collect and present responses and offer an open-text field for additional comments. The district plans listening sessions and focus groups from February through April and expects to present a draft strategic plan next summer.
Dr. Oestreich said the district will distribute the survey via email, social media, QR codes, community organizations and a paid placement in the Carmel Current to reach families and community members who do not currently have children in district schools.
