Bartholomew Con School Corp opens early education center for infants and toddlers

Bartholomew Con School Corp (BCSC) marked the opening of a renovated early education center in Columbus, officials and speakers said, celebrating a facility they described as a community investment in young children and working families. The building will house infants and toddlers and is part of the district's Envision 2,030 projects.

Presenter said quality childcare remains “one of the most critical needs in our community,” and that the center “is answering the call by creating a safe and nurturing space” for young learners. “It isn't daycare. It's learning,” the Presenter said, adding that the center will support parents as they work and pursue education and help strengthen the local workforce.

The Agency official said the building originally opened in 1952 and has served different roles over the decades. According to the Agency official, “When the Envision 2,030 projects are complete, this center will serve nearly 100 children between the ages of 6 weeks and 3 years old,” giving them an early start for school and life. The speaker also thanked the Richard L. Johnson family for a donation that helped transform the property.

Speakers framed the center as part of a long-running local effort: the Agency official noted more than two decades of work by county leaders to expand access to high-quality early learning.
