Parent raises safety concerns after exterior door was found ajar at Westchester school

Oropeza said she appreciated safety drills (students took ALICE training) but asked the board to outline what staff and parents should do to ensure doors are kept secured during arrival and dismissal. She said parents are worried about intruders and mass‑violence threats and asked for ‘‘future solutions to this issue or protocols that are currently taking place to ensure the safety of our children.’'
Board members acknowledged the concern, and administrative staff said they would follow up with the parent and research additional security steps and communications. No formal action was taken at the meeting; the Chair reminded the public that the board would research and respond.
