Superintendent Cox told trustees that recent formative and benchmark assessments show students are learning at expected or above-expected rates and that targeted investments in early childhood and interventions have reduced the number of students needing intensive supports.
Cox said district formative assessments and IAR/benchmarking show growth across subgroups and that the kindergarten year is foundational: "Our students are learning across the board at expected or above expected rates," he said, and emphasized the gains among targeted subgroups and the reduced number of students in tier 3 interventions by spring. Cox credited classroom teachers, support staff and early-childhood investments for those improvements.
Trustees asked for more detailed mathematics data in a subsequent report; staff said the next monthly report will focus on mathematics. Administrators invited board members to review the student-achievement report and to raise questions as the district compiles deeper subgroup analyses.
