The Whitko Community School Corp. Board of School Trustees on a series of voice votes approved staff and student handbooks for the 2024–25 school year, multiple contracts for information technology and food services, renewal of the point-of-sale agreement, unchanged student and adult meal prices, and authorized administrator assistance to conduct a superintendent search.
The board passed a consent agenda that included routine business reports before taking separate votes on new-business items. Wynonna IT’s proposal for information-technology services was approved, as was a Brown Design Marketing agreement. The board also approved food-service agreements including the HPS proposal awarded by Region 8 and the Indiana EFC Food Co‑op member agreement for 2024–25, the Region 8 dairy contract for 2024–25, and point-of-sale contract renewals with Titan/Ling and Heartland Mosaic.
Career Academy representative Chris Benedek highlighted student outcomes earlier in the meeting, noting, “We had 134 students earn concentrator status” and reporting 479.5 dual credits earned through Ivy Tech this year. Superintendent Dr. Eddington said the board will begin a superintendent search and that the district has "started that search process" and was pursuing quality candidates.
The board approved the student and adult meal prices for 2024–25, which the chair said are unchanged from the prior year. Trustees also approved field trips for the 2023–24 and 2024–25 school years as presented.
All motions recorded in the transcript were moved, seconded and passed by voice vote; there were no registered public comments during the meeting. The board scheduled a work session for July 10 at 4 p.m. and its regular July meeting for July 15 at 6:30 p.m.
