The board gave permission to sell a totaled white bus (Bus #37) for salvage and to remove a damaged 2014 Chrysler touring minivan from the district capital asset list after both vehicles were declared totaled or essentially beyond repair following collisions described by the superintendent. The motion to authorize salvage and removal passed 7–0.
Separately, the board approved purchase of real estate at 811 East Monroe Street in Decatur for $66,000 and authorized the superintendent to sign closing documents. The superintendent said the property abuts existing campus property and would allow the district to expand where it is otherwise landlocked; the board approved the purchase in a separate motion, 7–0.
Administrators noted potential timing issues replacing vehicles (some buses can take a year to receive after order) and said staff will search for suitable used replacements for smaller vehicles. The superintendent said the district will remove the two vehicles from the capital asset list once sale and disposition are complete.
