An administrator described the district’s approach to distributing the Indiana Department of Education Early Literacy Achievement grant stipends to K–3 instructional staff and related personnel.
Under the plan presented, staff in designated school groupings would receive a base stipend tied to I‑Read 3 achievement and growth, with additional tiers (+25%, +50%) for other school-group classifications reflecting performance and complexity adjustments. Certified staff outside K–3 who are in supporting roles (counselors, related-arts teachers, grade‑4 teachers) would receive a $500 one‑time stipend; selected support staff (instructional assistants, media assistants, front-office and family-engagement liaisons) would receive $250. The administrator said stipends will be distributed by payroll no later than March 21 and are subject to taxation and standard employment conditions.
The board moved, seconded and approved the stipend distribution as presented.
