Commission issues compliance certificate for 125 Liberty Street; staff asks that signs be fastened more securely

The Brockton Conservation Commission voted Dec. 17 to issue a certificate of compliance for 125 Liberty Street after an agent reported that required 'no salt' signage had been installed, though a few masonry‑mounted signs were not securely fastened.

Agent Kyle told the commission he inspected the site and saw signs posted on the building corners (some on 127 Liberty Street). He said the signs satisfy the outstanding requirement but noted that a couple of masonry‑attached signs were only held by single screws and could pop off; he asked the applicant to secure those signs with appropriate washers or masonry fasteners. Commissioners agreed the minimum requirement was met and moved to issue the certificate of compliance, adding an administrative note that the applicant should secure the signs more durably.

Commissioners discussed buffer lines and distances from the loading dock to adjacent off‑site resource areas; Kyle noted the original order of conditions dated from roughly 20 years earlier and that buffer lines and land uses have shifted since then. The commission concluded the primary outstanding condition (signage) had been addressed and voted to grant the certificate by roll call.
