Program sites named for the summer program were Bayou Blue Upper, Raceland Upper, South La Rose and WF Lamar; several sites were consolidated because the district did not have enough students to fill every location. The staff member said students will take DIBELS in April, have a May testing opportunity and, if still below the benchmark, attend summer school and retest afterward, giving three testing opportunities tied to what the staff described in the meeting as a 'new law.'
The supervisor also reported that middle‑year conferences with all middle‑school principals have been completed and that the district continues required observations for its Virtual Academy and the charter program. The staff said the district uses a long‑standing standard observation form and conducts roughly three to four classroom observations at selected sites each year.
District leaders also said openings remain for some grades: the transcript records '2 openings for fifth grade' and '26 openings for fourth grade' for the program or enrollment noted. The staff described a completed professional learning cohort for instructional coaches ('Grow Lafourche' sessions) and said candidates who finished the cohort may serve in their schools as mentor teachers even if they do not take district instructional coach roles next year.
Applications close at the end of the month as stated in the meeting; staff did not provide a calendar date beyond the meeting language. There was no formal vote on the program during this session.
Next steps: staff will continue enrollment and testing logistics; the district will offer the May retest and the post‑summer retest for students who remain below the benchmark.
