Taylor School District celebrates state bus rodeo team victory; driver Craig tops field

The presenter said Taylor has hosted the regional/state event since 2017 and that 55 drivers from seven districts competed this year; eight Taylor drivers participated. "Taylor kept first place," the presenter said, and noted that Nashawn Craig finished first individually with a reported total of 615 points. The presenter also said Anna Myers finished in the top 10 and that the district had multiple drivers finish in the top five and top 10.
Why it matters: The bus rodeo evaluates school-bus-driving skills that relate directly to student safety, including vehicle inspection, railroad stops, curb approach, backing and alley docking, and student pickup procedures. Board members thanked drivers and volunteers and asked to take a group photo before the district’s planned travel to state competition venues.
Board members and staff offered congratulations and wished the team good luck; several members urged the drivers to keep the board informed on upcoming competitions.
