Construction progress reported on Central, Haverhill and Woodland schools; board discussed bond implementation

Johnny Edwards presented a visual update on bond-funded construction at several district campuses.
At Portage Central Edwards said crews have started primer and drywall work on the first floor and windows are being installed on the north side where learning communities are located. He reported the exterior brick veneer is nearly complete. At Haverhill he said first-floor drywall and second-floor framing are progressing, and crews are installing distinctive corner windows. At the Avery Hills site Edwards showed progress preparing a bus loop off Coulter Avenue and staff parking areas.
On Woodland Elementary he said the project is wrapped up in the construction-document phase and that materials are being sent to the district’s design partner and will be bid out, with a goal of receiving bids before winter break so the board can consider recommendations in January.
Edwards closed by noting typical next steps—bids and board recommendations—and invited questions from trustees.
