Grant board adopts Clark Hill model policies, waives readings including an updated Title IX policy

The Grant Public School District committee voted to adopt Clark Hill model board policies and bylaws, including an updated Title IX policy, after waiving the customary readings required for new policy adoption.

Chair (S2) introduced the packet and said the policy committee recommended switching from the district’s prior NEOLA language to Clark Hill model policies because they were "much more simplified" and easier for administrators to apply. Board members noted the district faces an August 1 deadline to adopt a Title IX policy and that adopting the Clark Hill models would allow the district to meet that timeline.

During discussion, members and the superintendent emphasized ease of administration: "We don't need a lawyer to tell us what's it saying," one participant said, arguing the model language would make compliance and enforcement more straightforward for on-the-ground staff. The policy committee’s recommendation to replace the NEOLA materials with Clark Hill policies was reiterated.

The board moved to waive the required readings and to approve first and second readings in this meeting; members then voted to adopt the Clark Hill model policies, including the Title IX policy.

The board’s packet and committee report will be the official record of the adopted language; the district’s administration said it will circulate implementation guidance and bring any required updates back to the board if adjustments are needed.
