Jeremy Moore, presenting under facility planning, told the Fort Zumwalt board that the district solicited bids for lawn-mowing services for the half of the district not covered under last year’s contract. Of three bidders—Broyles, Nelson, and Archway—staff recommended Nelson Lawn Services at a contract price of $111,566 as the most responsible bidder based on prior experience and reference checks.
Board members asked whether Nelson had the capacity to handle the work; Moore said the bidding package required vendors to disclose other contracts and capacity, and staff had vetted capacity concerns through reference checks. One board member noted the price difference (about $31,000) compared with the current contractor and asked whether the district was getting value for the higher bid. Moore said staff believed Nelson’s experience and references justified the recommendation.
The chair called for a motion to approve Nelson; the board approved the contract by voice.
Ending: Staff will proceed with contract execution and scheduling for the district’s mowing season.
