The Crawford Co. R-II Board of Education voted to approve the 2024–25 faculty handbooks as amended and separately approved the Alternative Learning Center (ALC) handbook as presented.
Board members identified several inconsistencies across the three faculty handbooks, including conflicting end times (examples given as 4:00 p.m. vs. 4:10 p.m.), mismatched titles ("Mrs." vs. "Miss"), and differing names and contact formatting on the pages for employees. Trustees asked staff to standardize daily procedures and to ensure times and role titles match the district’s master schedule. "So the time settings don't match... they don't match the other building," a board member said while reviewing page-by-page differences.
On the ALC handbook, the superintendent described a shift in philosophy away from purely punitive responses toward more supportive interventions designed to help students meet expectations and re-enter the general population when appropriate. The ALC document sets an expectation of 90% student attendance and clarifies that administrative placement is the district’s policy; the handbook also includes revised tracking forms and attendance documentation. Board members requested a logo update on the front page to reflect current branding. The motion to approve the ALC handbook as presented passed unanimously.
Next steps: staff will incorporate the requested edits (time standardization, name/title consistency, logo update) into the faculty and ALC handbooks and publish the updated versions for staff use.
