Superintendent lays out midyear operational plan, asks board to review ADDSS application and tech-levy outreach

"With a blink of an eye, we've made it to the halfway point of the school year," Dr. Bridal Hoover said as she reviewed targets for student achievement, connectedness and operations. She said curriculum-mapping work and a newly posted DOP provide objective measures and artifacts to show progress.
Why it matters: The DOP frames how the district will measure success — from K-12 literacy and math work to safety and staffing — and the superintendent asked the board to use the DOP as the basis for evaluating district progress and her own performance. She said the district will bring back a follow-up report in late spring with the status of those measures.
Key items announced: Dr. Bridal Hoover said the district is preparing an ADDSS application with a target submission by the first deadline of Feb. 7 and estimated the application ask at roughly $1.4 million. She described a cross-functional drafting process that assigns tasks to data, counseling, math and reading leads so there should be "no surprises" for board members when the application goes to MDE.
On technology funding, the superintendent and communications staff plan a mail/QR-code survey to residents around Feb. 20 to gauge tax-tolerance and better inform a future technology levy discussion; she said flyers and presentations are already available on the district website.
Officials also reviewed stewardship work: insurance and wellness planning, facilities and a clarified division of CFO versus director-level finance duties. The superintendent described recent investments in leadership training, curriculum review planning, and partnerships with community organizations.
Board reaction and next steps: Board members asked for access to documents and for the superintendent to share draft ADDSS materials before submission. The superintendent said she will return in May or June with a progress update on DOP boxes and the board can expect circulation of the ADDSS draft ahead of the deadline.
The board did not vote on the DOP itself; the superintendent requested feedback and signaled a later return with more completed evidence.
