Board sets virtual parent presentation on body-safety education under Aaron’s Law; opt-out option noted

Board members urged communicating details to PTA liaisons and giving parents the opportunity to preview materials and opt out where appropriate.
"There's going to be an opportunity for parents to see what's gonna be presented, before it is, and I think there's also an opportunity for parents to opt out," one board member said, stressing the value of clear communication to avoid rumors.
The board asked administration to ensure materials are age-appropriate and to coordinate outreach through PTAs and district communications prior to the Nov. 19 session.
Next steps: administration to finalize contract language and communications plan, provide staff training on Oct. 14, and present materials for parent preview prior to the Nov. 19 virtual session.
