Dr. Angelou presented the district’s biannual submission to the New Jersey Student Safety Data System and said the second reporting period showed no incidents of violence, vandalism, substance abuse or weapons offenses.
“The second reporting period of the 23–24 school year, there were no incidents reported under the categories of violence, vandalism, substance abuse, or weapons offenses,” Dr. Angelou said, adding that the district must report any suspended students with individualized education programs (IEPs) and confirmed incidents of harassment, intimidation and bullying (HIB).
Dr. Angelou told the board the district reported one student with an IEP who was suspended during the period and one confirmed HIB case. The presentation concluded the district’s biannual reporting obligation for the current school year, and Dr. Angelou said the submission completes the statutorily required reporting cycle to the state education guidance referenced by the board.
Why it matters: the Student Safety Data System requires districts to report incidents so the state and local boards can track safety trends and required interventions. The board did not debate disciplinary details in public during the report and noted that confidentiality rules limit specifics in open session.
Next steps: the board received the report and moved on to other agenda business; no further action or sanctions were announced at the meeting.
