Lockwood board approves interim business manager, training contract, CTE purchases and grant application

The board also approved purchasing an interactive virtual anatomy and science table to expand anatomy and physiology, EMT and CNA instruction, with administrators saying the purchase will be funded from advanced-opportunity grant dollars, Medicaid/Medicare billing receipts for student services, and adult-education funds rather than the district general fund.

Several personnel and contract items passed by voice vote. The board approved an 11-month JROTC contract to reflect instructor workload (administrators reported roughly 245 extra hours of instructor time), authorized a one-seventh contract payment to compensate a teacher who gave up prep time to cover another class, and approved submission of the Montana Advanced Opportunity grant application (the district reported it received $809,000 this year through that program).

The district’s administration emphasized that the funding sources for the anatomy table and career-pathway expansions would not reduce funds available to athletics or classroom budgets.
