Lockwood Air Force JROTC highlights community service, marksmanship team headed to national competition

Cadet Captain Meilenburg described LDRs and teams including marksmanship and archery; he said the marksmanship team has competed in postals and aims to attend the Air Force service championship. ‘‘So that is those are my slides,’’ Meilenburg said, adding that the unit includes freshmen through juniors with seniors serving as mentors.
Cadet Major Lando Mongero gave figures for community service and fundraising. He told the board the unit has completed 12 community-service events, logged 489 service hours to date (up from about 140 last year), and raised $5,400 for the Salvation Army this year — double last year’s total. He said the unit also received a $10,000 grant in 2023 that helped seed the marksmanship program and enable national competition.
Board members asked logistical questions about presentations and competition timelines; cadet leaders said they remain on track for state and national events and will return with updates as competitions occur.
The presentation concluded with trustees thanking the cadets and recognizing the program’s community-service contributions and competitive progress.
