The Chair of the East Rockaway Board of Education called a special meeting to order at 9:35 p.m. on May 20, 2025 and moved to certify the results of the district’s annual election.
The Chair read the tabulation and stated, “The results of such tabulation are as follows.” The board recorded Proposition 1 with yes votes 347 and no votes 155, and Proposition 2 with yes votes 373 and no votes 115. The Chair congratulated Maureen Doyle and Pete McNally on their reelection to the school board.
A motion to certify the results was made by Mrs. Salufo and seconded by Mrs. Lonergan. The Chair called for the vote; members responded “Aye,” and the Chair stated, “Motion approved.” No roll-call vote or individual tallies were read beyond the spoken “Aye” and the Chair’s announcement that the motion carried.
Immediately after certifying the election results, the Chair asked for a motion to adjourn at 9:36 p.m. Mrs. Doyle moved to adjourn and Mr. Lawrence seconded; the Chair called the vote, members replied “Aye,” and the Chair again stated, “Motion approved.” The meeting then concluded.
The board did not take additional action during the special meeting and did not enter into discussion beyond the certification and adjournment.
