The council then voted to grant Howell a 60‑day extension and asked staff to coordinate timelines so the work can be completed within that period. The council requested staff confirm whether the 60 days should be counted from the date of the notice or otherwise and to provide a clear effective date for the extension.
The council also heard a public comment introduced by Brent about a resident named Greg Smith, who lives in an RV on property inside city limits and faces enforcement under the city’s warrant/land‑use ordinances. Brent said de‑annexation would not be acted on that day but could be discussed at the next work session because Smith’s 30‑day compliance period had expired. Brent further noted the city will follow up on an unsafe‑structure matter at 2300 Gamble that had been removed from the current agenda for additional review.
