West Windsor-Plainsboro lays out course-selection timeline and graduation requirements for 2025—— 2026

Dr. Barbara Gould, chief academic officer for West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional School District, told families the Genesis course-selection portal opens Jan. 24 and recommended that parents confirm district email accounts so they receive eligibility notices and deadlines. She said high-school counselors will meet with students one-on-one in March to finalize course selections.
The district requires 120 credits to graduate. Dr. Gould listed the major allocations: 20 credits for language arts (four years); 15 credits in mathematics (including Algebra I and Geometry); 15 credits in science (biology plus chemistry, environmental science or physics); 15 credits in social studies (including one year of world history and two years of American studies); 10 credits in world language; 5 credits in visual and performing arts; and 5 credits in 21st-century life and careers. Financial literacy, health and physical education requirements and study-hall rules were also outlined.
Families learned how eligibility for honors is determined: district staff look at first- and second-trimester averages and prerequisite coursework. For honors eligibility from middle school into ninth grade, students generally must meet an 80% threshold in several subject-area assessments; for students already in Algebra I honors or Algebra II HNA, a 70% threshold applies for honors placement in ninth grade. The program of studies posted on the district website contains the full, course-by-course entrance criteria.
Dr. Gould emphasized key process dates: students may request courses in Genesis beginning Jan. 24; counselors will finalize schedules in March; requests for course-eligibility review (appeals) are due April 1; and an elective-change window runs Aug. 1——15, subject to seat availability and class-size priorities. Ninth graders may change course level (for certain classes such as world history, biology, algebra) through Oct. 15 of the school year, but level changes thereafter are constrained by credit and attendance rules.
The district urged families to consult the online program of studies and to discuss choices with teachers and counselors so students select paths that align with both interest and long-term goals. The presentation and slide deck will be posted on the district website for families who could not attend.
