Parent warns board that busing failures cost wrestlers a shot at sectionals

"My son, John, participates in it... there was no bus. Coach was very upset... and then not making it up there because they would never make the weigh ins," Mingo said, describing a cancelled trip and later noting the team finished the season with five weigh-ins when six were required to qualify for sectionals. "They needed 6 to go to sectionals... they didn't go to sectionals by 1 weigh in. That's a shame."
Mingo asked the district to examine bus vendor performance and to assign accountability for recurring problems. Board members responded that the concern was legitimate and that transportation and student safety are priorities. One board member said, "If a kid's wrestling and we can't get a bus... that's on us as a district," and urged staff to get a handle on vendor reliability.
Board members noted they had heard similar concerns before and asked staff to report back with findings and corrective steps.
