The Onteora Central School District Board of Education on May 6 voted unanimously to add and then approve a closing agreement to terminate litigation with Cedar Development East LLC and to complete the conveyance of the former West Hurley Elementary School property.
The resolution authorizes the board president to execute the agreement in substantially the form annexed to the motion and authorizes the superintendent or designee to issue payments and related documentation required to effectuate the closing. The motion to add the agenda item was made by Trustee Raimondo and seconded by Trustee Lynch; the roll-call vote recorded "Aye" from Trustees Knudson, Jerome, Goodrich, Lynch and Raimondo.
Policy adoptions and consent agenda Following the closing-agreement vote the board approved a consent agenda (items 14.02–14.08) and enacted second readings and unanimous adoptions of several policies: policy 34.30 (school safety and educational climate reporting), policy 6161 (expense reimbursement), policy 73.50 (corporal punishment), and policy 84.60 (field trips and excursions). The minutes for prior meetings were also accepted.
Personnel note Superintendent McLaren announced that middle school principal Mr. Dodonna will be leaving Onteora; Ms. Fallow will work with Mr. Dodonna through the remainder of his term and will assume the role of principal through June under the district's short-term plan. The resignation will appear on the meeting agenda as part of personnel business.
What this means The West Hurley resolution moves the property sale toward closing under the terms described in the agreement; the board's authorization to execute documents and issue payments is intended to finalize the conveyance within approximately 120 days as the resolution states. Policy adoptions were routine and carried unanimously.
