The Marion Central School District board approved a shared professional services agreement with Wayne‑Finger Lakes BOCES and a set of personnel changes intended to reorganize district support services.
Dr. Lloyd told the board the proposal would reduce Assistant Superintendent Nikki Miller to a half-time role; half of Miller's time would be spent consulting for the BOCES to provide professional development and curriculum support. "If this shift is approved, Nikki would start being a half-time employee as of September 1," Dr. Lloyd said.
To cover duties shifted from the assistant superintendent, the district will move some responsibilities to the Director of Student Support Services (Mrs. Levy) and create a new Director of Community Schools and MTSS position. Dr. Lloyd said the district received $50,000 from a full-service community schools grant that would fund much of the new role and that the position would spend roughly one day per week supporting Wayne County community-schools work.
Dr. Lloyd gave salary projections and savings estimates: the Director of Community Schools position would be paid $95,000; the Director of Student Support Services would receive a $15,000 pay increase; the district estimates prorated savings of about $55,000 this year and roughly $80,000 in future years from the reorganization. "So overall for this year with our prorated savings, we estimate that to be about $55,000," he said.
The board moved and approved the shared professional services agreement by voice vote. It then approved creation of the director position and an MOA with the Marion Administrators Association to assign duties. Dr. Lloyd recommended Casey Steiner to fill the director role (which Dr. Lloyd said would create an elementary principal vacancy), the board accepted Mrs. Steiner's resignation from the elementary principal position, and later moved to hire Mrs. Snyder to the director role; all motions carried by voice vote as recorded in the transcript (specific vote counts were not provided).
The board also approved an MOA reassigning duties to the Director of Student Support Services and approved the hiring of Morgan Simmons as the new elementary school psychologist (Simmons was not present due to a family death but had been recommended following interviews).
Most approvals in the transcript were conducted by voice vote; the transcript records "Aye" for approvals but does not provide roll-call tallies or list dissenting names. The board adjourned after approving the consent agenda.
Next steps noted in the meeting: implementation of personnel changes contingent on the hires and MOA execution; Dr. Lloyd and staff will proceed with the personnel appointments and administrative steps discussed.
