Marion Central holds public hearing on districtwide safety plan and code of conduct

Mr. Walker opened the board's public hearing on the districtwide safety plan and code of conduct, telling attendees the plan is posted on the board agenda for the public hearing meeting and on the district website. "Good evening, and welcome to our annual public hearing for the code of conduct and our district wide safety plan," he said, and asked members of the public to submit comments to rwalker@marioncs.org during the 30-day review period.
Dr. Lloyd, who led the code of conduct overview, said the code has been updated for the 2024–25 school year after review by building principals and the district's attorneys. "You'll see the changes that are redlined within the document," he said, adding that updates clarify definitions, due-process language, discipline notification and school-level procedures. The presenters said the districtwide safety plan is a 22-page document with personnel and other minor updates. The hearing was closed after the presenters reiterated the 30-day public comment window and where the documents can be accessed.
The public comment period remains open; the board directed those with questions to the emails provided for written feedback. No formal votes were taken on the safety plan during the hearing; the presentation served to open the public-review period.
