Superintendent previews school-year schedule, names new middle school assistant principal

The superintendent of the Mahopac Central School District updated the board and public on preparations for the new school year, announced a facilities tour open to the public and introduced Regina Cucinada as the district's nominee for middle school assistant principal.
In remarks to the board, the superintendent said the district completed new professional staff orientation and that all staff return this week, with kindergarten, sixth- and ninth-grade transition on Sept. 3 and all students returning on Sept. 4. The superintendent described the work done over the summer by the facilities team under Tim Walsh as “very, very proud of all the work that was done.”
The superintendent outlined a public facilities tour scheduled for Thursday, beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the Falls Building and continuing with brief stops at Falls (6:00 p.m.), Austin Road (about 6:20 p.m.), Lakeview (about 6:50 p.m.), Fulmer Road (about 7:10 p.m.), Bridal School (about 7:30 p.m.) and the high school (about 8:00 p.m.). The times were presented as approximate and the superintendent invited the community to attend.
On personnel, the superintendent introduced Regina Cucinada as the new nominee for middle school assistant principal and noted her literacy background and prior experience with the New York City Department of Education. The superintendent said the district will present Regina for board consideration.
The superintendent also provided a brief update on the capital project, saying it is in its final stages and that the architect, construction team and Tim Walsh will present a status update to the board at a future meeting. The superintendent closed by encouraging the community to attend district events and by expressing optimism for the upcoming school year.
The board thanked the superintendent for the report and moved on to other agenda items. A public facilities tour is scheduled to begin Thursday evening at the Falls Building; times are approximate as announced to the board.
