State approves Increase Miller and Meadow Pond plans; district prepares bids

The board received a facilities update on March 14: district staff reported that plans for Increase Miller and Meadow Pond have been approved by the state education department after a lengthy review process, and that focus groups with the architect and the construction manager have been held with teachers, parents and building administrators.
A facilities committee member said the approvals took about 28 weeks. The district is preparing bid documents and is discussing a base bid plus alternate scopes to allow prioritization if cost increases constrain what can be completed this summer. "These really are opportunities to prepare for the bids that are going to go out hopefully a week from tomorrow," the committee member said.
Focus groups were held at Meadow Pond and Increase Miller with staff, parents and committee members to inform final plans. The presentation noted some projects (special-education classroom upgrades, an inclusive playground) will be coordinated in timing with the bond work but funded from capital lines outside the bond allocation.
District staff said construction managers and architects will support community focus groups during the next phase and that the district will update the community capital project website as status changes.
