Board approves minutes, finance reports, policy updates and referendum resolution; dogs-on-campus policy pulled back to committee

The Greenville Central School District Board of Education handled several action items on March 11, approving routine minutes, finance reports and personnel items and taking final or preparatory votes on multiple agenda items.
The board approved minutes from four recent meetings and accepted the finance report for the month ending Feb. 29, 2024. The Committee on Special Education (CSE) recommendations were accepted and the personnel agenda approved.
On policy matters, the board approved two updated policies: 61-50 (comprehensive attendance) and 61-30 (Dignity for All Students Act). The board voted to pull policy 81-60 (dogs on campus) back to committee for further refinement following community concerns raised during the first reading and public input.
The board passed a resolution to present a capital-reserve-account referendum to district residents at the annual budget hearing on May 7, 2024, with the public vote scheduled for May 21, 2024.
Other approved motions included an overnight FFA field trip to the state convention in Buffalo, purchase of six copies of Engineering Fundamentals: Design Principles and Careers (3rd edition) for current course enrollment, appointment of individuals to the board of voter registration for 2023–24 (Kelly Downs referenced during the motion), and acceptance of a donated drum set from Edith Desarno for the district’s music program.
Finally, the board voted to adjourn into executive session to discuss the superintendent’s evaluation.
