Interim Superintendent Tom Mongeauy Announces Back-to-School Plans and Community Events

Interim Superintendent Tom Mongeauy of GOSHEN CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT issued a district message celebrating the start of the school year and sharing logistics for families, staff and community members. He noted the first day of classes had already occurred and encouraged residents to check schedules for sports and orientations.
Mongeauy said he was "so excited" to see the "smiling faces" of students across grade levels and added that many parents and guardians appeared relieved to return children to school. He noted modified sports began Wednesday, varsity teams have been practicing and varsity games will start now, and asked families to "check your calendars" and "cheer on the Gladiators."
The superintendent announced that the Mid Hudson School Study Council will present its Awards for Excellence at a fall event, listing two district staff to be honored at the fall ceremony: Dr. Aaron Heil in the area of DPS and Jim Stewart in support staff. The district message gave the event date as Wednesday, October 29 at a venue named in the announcement as "Barnetville of Indonesia" and said information would be posted on the district website.
Mongeauy also said the Main Street building is open again after being closed for asbestos abatement and upgrades over the summer and thanked buildings and grounds staff for completing the work on time. On tax matters, he reminded residents they should have received their tax bill, noted an online payment link on the bill and that a drop box is available in the vestibule of Main Street for payments.
He invited the public to a "coffee with" event at the Diplomat Cafe, 87 Main Street, stating it will run from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. "Come on down public," he said, adding visitors could bring questions or complaints and "we'll have a good time over a cup of coffee." He closed the message with well-wishes for the week and "Go Gladiators."
