Board approves wide personnel slate, tables several items after debate; new special-services supervisor introduced

The West Milford Township Board of Education approved a large slate of personnel items Tuesday night but tabled several resolutions for further committee review after board discussion and member questions.
During the personnel portion of the agenda, a member moved to table item 50 for additional review; later the board also voted to table resolutions 46 and 47 until after committee discussion. One board member objected to approving resolution 46 on principle, citing concerns related to the GSA (Gay–Straight Alliance) adviser position and referencing a prior case in which an adviser was arrested; another member responded that the person referenced is not the individual on the current agenda. The board’s action was to postpone consideration of the named items, with the chair clarifying the items will return after committee review and, in some cases, after executive session.
Following discussion, the board took roll-call votes on the remaining personnel slate (items 1–45, 48, 49 and 51–56). Several members recorded abstentions and one member recorded ‘no’ votes on items 35 and 36; the motion carried and the personnel slate was approved as recorded.
The board also welcomed its newly approved Supervisor of Special Services, Mrs. Prashnick, who introduced herself and described a career rooted in special education and child-study teams.
After an executive session, the board reconvened and approved specified personnel-investigation items (identified in the agenda as PIP 20 23 e 9 and PIP 20 23 m 14) as substantiated, with roll-call votes recorded.
Next steps: Tabled personnel items (46, 47, 50) will be returned for committee discussion and a future vote; PIP actions will proceed per board process and confidentiality rules.
