State-funded 'New Jersey 4s' mental-health program introduces services at public comment

During the second public-comment period, Jessica Humbler said she was representing New Jersey 4s, a statewide initiative that provides student-intervention and mental-health services to schools at no cost because the program is state funded.
"It's student intervention and mental health services for students. It's state... funded, so it's free for schools," Humbler said, describing the program as preventative care and short-term services. She responded to a board question by saying New Jersey 4s cannot operate in a school that already has School-Based Youth Services, and that the program works in schools and virtually from a local hub based in Elmer on Harding Avenue.
Board members asked about the service model and where the program is based. Humbler offered to leave a contact card and further information for the district to review.
The board did not take any formal action on the public-comment presentation; it encouraged the presenter to provide materials for staff review.
