Board hears summer facilities and security upgrades; exhaust-fan walkthrough scheduled

Administrators reported multiple summer facilities and security upgrades at the Oradell Public School District. The board heard that stairwell treads were replaced and visually striped, two roofs are nearly complete, and an exhaust-fan vendor walkthrough is scheduled to finalize remaining work.

Speaker 4 said the district brought in an external cleaning company for spaces such as the library and world-language room, contracted a new landscaper, repainted first-floor bathrooms, added lighting and mirrors, and began additional cleaning and treatment work. She said two new roofs required after-hours work and that exhaust-fan follow-up would be discussed with the vendor during an upcoming walkthrough.

On security, the district reported that fencing and gates on Center Street were used during arrival, a gate-staffing protocol was set so a gate is open for arrival and closed afterward, and a Vicata guest-management system has been made operational. The district added 15 cameras, increasing the total to 73 cameras inside and outside the building, and completed a project to link cameras with door sensors so an alert is sent to the office when an unauthorized door opening occurs; the door-sticker signage for authorized door times is pending installation.

Mister Iapeli (speaker 3) told the board the exhaust-fan meeting was scheduled for 2:00 p.m. the next day and that new business-office staff were settling into routines. The board recorded the facilities-related motions and votes in committee reports and will follow up on closeout work with vendors.
