Mount Clemens authorizes 15-year Metro Act permit for EZ Fiber Texas LLC

The Mount Clemens City Commission approved a bilateral Metro Act right-of-way permit with EZ Fiber Texas LLC, allowing the company to install fiber-optic cable and related facilities in the city's public right of way under the terms of the Metro Act.
City staff presented the application and permit materials and told commissioners the package had been reviewed by the city attorney. According to staff, EZ Fiber is seeking a 15-year permit with automatic renewal provisions under the Metropolitan Extension Telecommunications Right of Way Act (the Metro Act).
"Attached are an application and permit from Easy Fiber Texas LLC for access to an ongoing use of the public right of way under the Metro Act," Mr. Shipman said. "Easy Fiber Texas LLC is seeking a 15 year automatically renewed every 5 years bilateral Metro Act permit to install fiber optic cable and other necessary facilities in the city's right of way in accordance with the terms and conditions of the permit."
A commissioner moved to approve and authorize execution of the bilateral permit; the motion was supported and approved by roll call. City staff said the permit and application materials were reviewed by the city attorney before being brought to the commission.
The approval authorizes the city manager and city clerk to execute the permit documents, and staff indicated oversight and standard permit conditions will govern construction in the right of way.
