The staff member also described an open RFP for the design of a new city hall and fire station, saying the process will include department interviews and a public meeting and that the commission will approve each design phase. The presenter said about a dozen people attended a mandatory walkthrough and that the city expects at least six to eight proposals, with the RFP closing on the 13th, a Tuesday.
A commissioner asked that, when the administration shortlists firms, staff provide the selection criteria and a brief explanation if any firm is disqualified. The staff member agreed to provide that summary and proposed bringing the top three or four finalists to a work session for interviews and possible site visits.
The commission discussed public participation scheduling and confirmed there will be public input opportunities at the next regular meeting at 7 p.m., when the commission will also provide a brief slot for RFP respondents if needed.
Procedural action: a committee member moved to adjourn the work session; the motion was seconded by the chair and carried by voice vote. The commission adjourned and planned to reconvene at 7:00 p.m. for the regular meeting.
