The Rainier SD 13 board voted unanimously to approve contract terms for specified nonrepresented employees and administrators that set a 5% salary increase for the 2024–25 school year.
Dr. Hatrick told the board that packet materials included contract templates and a recommendation for a 5% increase and presented a draft motion for the nonrepresented employees. Liz, a board member, moved to approve the contracts as presented; Mr. Zunowski seconded. The motion named nonrepresented employees (Boyd Brown; Nick Hansen Sador; Jamie King; Shalana Clark) and administrators (Megan Keplinger; Jeremy Williams; Debbie Webster; Shane Akoa; Kenneth Howell; Greg Miller) and said the salary “shall be [a] 5% increase over the $23.24 contract salary subsequent to the conclusion of collective bargaining agreements with REA and OSEA.” The motion also states that insurance contributions will match those provided to the Rainier Education Association under its collective bargaining agreement with the Rainier School District (Rainier SD 13).
Board members who commented expressed appreciation for administrators’ patience and for having the information available. Mr. Weaver said there were aspects he did not like but supported moving forward; Mr. Ginto praised administrators’ work. The board approved the motion by a show of hands: 6 in favor, none opposed.
The action covers the listed nonrepresented employees and administrators for 2024–25 and directs the board chair to consult with the superintendent regarding final 2024–25 nonrepresented salaries as described in the motion. The contract text in the meeting packet and the motion tie insurance contributions to the Rainier Education Association agreement. The vote finalizes the board’s approval; there was no recorded amendment to the motion during discussion.
What’s next: The board will implement the contracts as described and the chair will consult with district leadership on final salary details.
