Will, district facilities staff, walked the board through slides and photos outlining multiple summer projects.
At the 7 Oaks Building he said the contractor returned to finish an epoxy restroom floor at no additional district cost and the district will host a community grand opening later in August.
Will provided multiple photos of Lacombe Elementary showing repaired beams, completed roof sections, upgraded ventilation units and a successful weekend asbestos abatement in a problem area; staff applied temporary tarping and pumps to protect the building while the abatement was scheduled and completed.
Will also showed the new made-to-order service window in the kitchateria, new ceiling tiles, sprinklers and LED lights, and described a converted storage closet to improve kitchen efficiency. He explained plans to polish and level the college and career center floor and install adjustable tables to support a one-lunch/two-period schedule intended to increase cafeteria capacity and improve academic outcomes.
Board members asked staff to send updates via ParentSquare so families know timelines and suggested more social media outreach or a press release to highlight summer progress. Will agreed to provide communications materials and a timeline, and said he expects a roof completion update by the next board meeting.
Next steps: staff to circulate ParentSquare updates, prepare social media/marketing materials for the 7 Oaks grand opening and provide a Lacombe roof completion status at the next meeting.
