One member noted the district’s proposed fee schedule would still be on the lower end compared with neighboring districts, while others said charging for outdoor fields (a common complaint elsewhere) should be carefully phased in or avoided.
The board agreed to adopt KG and KGAR as policy and to table the fee schedule; trustees instructed staff to implement the policy without fees initially, track revenue and community impacts across a school year, and return with data before setting or phasing in charges. The board’s motion to approve the policies with the fee schedule removed carried by voice vote.
Administrators clarified some operational points: not all groups will be charged (donation models for some tournaments and long-term arrangements may differ), and outdoor athletic fields were not included in the current fee plan. Trustees asked staff to provide public-facing communication and an implementation timeline so community groups understand any future changes.
