A presenter delivered a legislative update to the Sidney City School Board listing bills the presenter said are under consideration at the state level, including proposals on assault penalties for offenses against school employees, liability provisions for certain instructional material, support for future educators, a requirement to print the national suicide and crisis lifeline on student IDs, and a proposal to require at least one high school computer science course.
The board also heard a short summary of the Upper Valley Career Center (UBCC) board meeting on May 28, which the presenter said included annual reports, a construction project update, approved purchase orders and service agreements, donations, an asphalt contractor approval, insurance renewals and personnel changes.
Near the end of the meeting the board made and carried a motion to move into executive session to discuss negotiations for a short time; the chair stated there would be no business to be voted on after the executive session.
