The board approved two time-sensitive personnel reassignments during the work session.
Mister Miller moved to approve the actions and the board adopted both reassignments by roll-call vote: Jean Ann Bedner from instructional paraprofessional to part-time elementary secretary (effective March 18) and Morgan Long from substitute teacher to full-time paraprofessional (effective March 24). Votes recorded: Adams—Yes; Eggleston—Yes; Gray—Yes; Miller—Yes; Mungold—Yes; Peterson—Yes; Minnick—Yes.
Administrators also reported about enrollment and routine district business: Dr. Garcia said kindergarten registration the following week had about 50 scheduled appointments and district enrollment was near 700 students.
The business office proposed leasing a postage meter to streamline outgoing mail and secure a 4-cent per-piece discount. The quoted lease cost was about $174.63 per month for 60 months; the board asked staff to prepare a purchase-versus-lease cost analysis and to return with purchase-price options and mailing-volume data at the regular meeting.
On policy, administration recommended updating Policy 06/26 (procurement/procurement thresholds) to align with federal ESSER monitoring guidance; the board agreed to advertise and bring the policy for final action at the March adoption meeting. The board also discussed clarifying the paraprofessional Area Pathways to Teaching guidelines to avoid inadvertently capping participation; consensus language was to support a maximum of two paraprofessionals in the program at any given time and to remove the conflicting 'one-per-year' phrasing.
Student-council events, stadium contract questions and the disposal of outdated library reference books were also discussed; the board asked for a simple summary/photo inventory before authorizing disposal consistent with district surplus policy.
Next step: administration will return to the regular meeting with detailed cost comparisons on the postage meter, the revised procurement policy language, paraprofessional program wording, and the contractor/designer clarifications on stadium items where needed.
