District to migrate middle/high school learning to Microsoft Teams; board raises concerns about features and transition

Millersburg Area School District administrators told the board during a March work session that the district plans to adopt Microsoft Teams as its official learning-management system for middle and high schools, with implementation targeted for 2026.
"Administratively we made the decision to move forward with using Microsoft Teams as an LMS," said Mr. Weiner, who outlined the districts rationale: centralized licensing through the districts Microsoft agreement, improved cybersecurity controls and elimination of duplicate costs for Canvas and Google Classroom. "We are definitely covered with cybersecurity concerns," he added.
