Lower Moreland board approves personnel moves, contracts, finance items and student-service agreements

The Lower Moreland Township School District Board of School Directors on Sept. 17 approved a slate of routine personnel and business items, including leaves and hires, extracurricular contracts, several out-of-district student-service agreements and multiple finance actions.
Board President Dr. James Lee opened the meeting and the board moved, seconded and carried approvals for the 2024–25 personnel motions after administrators outlined updates since the work session. Personnel changes include approved leaves for counselors, a recommendation to appoint Erin Stroop as principal of Murray Avenue School and the appointment of mentors and supplemental-contract positions for coaches and advisors. "We had one student who did score a perfect score," board member Mister Miles said in recognition remarks for Benson Liu; the board congratulated the student.
On finance items the board approved accounts payable checklists for late August and early September, a wire-transfer list, the monthly financial reports and a budget transfer in connection with the year-ending audit. Business Administrator Mister McGuinn presented the items; the board then approved a 48-month copier lease with Ricoh USA and a district-wide appraisal by Kroll LLC at a cost of $19,700.
The board also approved several student-services agreements for 2024–25, authorizing continued placements and tuition arrangements with the Springtime School, the Comprehensive Learning Center, Melmark Day School and Woodland for listed students. The motions were presented as renewals of existing placements at the tuition rates shown in the attachments.
Administrators said professional development requests and an MTSS services agreement with the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit (MCIU) were approved; the board also approved a Glendon Mercy dual-enrollment agreement for the coming school year.
No members of the public signed up for comment during the public-comment period. The meeting concluded with routine policy first and second readings and a set of committee reports. The board adjourned and scheduled its next meeting for Oct. 1, 2024, at 7 p.m.
