Board approves shared school-zone signage with East Lampeter Township

The Conestoga Valley Board of School Directors voted unanimously to approve a cost-sharing agreement with East Lampeter Township to install school-zone signage at Fritz Elementary.
At a Feb. 10 meeting, Mrs. Hudson presented a letter from the township outlining the plan and requested the board ratify the district's participation, including shared costs and cooperation on grant applications such as Safe Routes to School. "The letter that we've provided you here, is from the township requesting that we ratify what they've outlined," Hudson said during the presentation.
Mrs. Hudson moved to approve the initiative "on the Hornet Road safety issue with East Lampeter Township," the motion was seconded, and the board completed a roll-call vote. Board members recorded their votes as "aye" for Doctor Martin, Missus Fisher, Mister Hurst, Mister Talley, Missus Koepka, Mister Eby, Miss Trowbridge and Miss Scroff. The Chair noted the action would make many parents happy.
The agreement was placed on the consent agenda for formal approval and executed after the roll call. Board members said they were pleased with how quickly the township and district cooperated on the safety measure. The district will share costs with East Lampeter Township and pursue grant funding to offset expenses.
The board moved on to remaining business and later adjourned to an executive session for personnel and legal matters.
