District details instructional, assessment and student-support plans ahead of Sept. 2 start

Administrators presented a series of operational updates to prepare for the Sept. 2 start of school, focusing on instructional time, data systems, assessments and student supports.
Teaching and learning administrator Dr. Reddix Mack said the district is continuing its STILL standards work (grades 5–8 in implementation; high school biology planning; elementary beginning in the fall) and will emphasize bell‑to‑bell instruction to maximize classroom minutes. “Every minute counts,” Dr. Reddix Mack said, and the district is asking parents to help ensure students arrive on time.
The district is phasing in ClassLink as a single sign-on system so teachers and students can access platforms with one login over the coming months. Dr. Reddix Mack said Panorama is moving to full implementation to support MTSS and that Exact Path and Admetum standards‑mastery reporting will help teachers use data to target instruction. STAR assessments are scheduled for September to set baseline proficiency for tiered supports.
People services administrator Dr. Ryan reported fall sports have started; the second home football game is scheduled for tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. against Unionville, and the district is using cashless entry through Hometown Ticketing. Dr. Ryan also said staff plan a site visit to Aviva regarding medicine-management for students at Ardelco Academy, and that Communities in Schools will continue providing case managers (up to 60 per elementary school; the high school has two case managers, for a combined capacity of about 120 students).
A recap of a recent back-to-school event noted roughly 500 attendees; most supplies were donated, and the district spent $17.70 on the bounce house, DJ and food.
Next steps: administrators said SSO rollouts and program implementations will continue over the fall; staff will share data and site-visit findings with the board as available.
