The personnel committee presented a slate of staffing actions and program agreements at the June 9 meeting, and trustees probed confidentiality and budget implications for proposed health and early‑education partnerships.
Chair Ackman reviewed summer‑program placements and recommended White Oak Dentistry as the district’s vendor to provide on‑site student dental exams for 2025–27. She also presented two memorandum‑of‑understanding proposals: an annually renewed Pre‑K Counts grant arrangement and an MOU for Laurel Life (a school‑based therapeutic and emotional‑support program) to provide services in the middle school for 2025–26.
A trustee asked whether parents understand that records from outsourced counseling services can be subpoenaed. The trustee said she had firsthand experience with court proceedings that obtained counseling documents. Staff replied that ‘‘anything written down is considered part of an educational record unless it’s a note page of an educator or a counselor’’ and that most educational records are protected under FERPA; they recommended legal follow‑up to craft clear parent releases and district guidance.
Staff also proposed several hires and personnel items, including the employment of Jason Fisher (English/MTSS teacher), Trevor McGowan (Health & PE teacher), ratification of conference attendance, and a one‑year technician substitute hire at $12/hour. The committee listed a confidential settlement of $22,500 and a per‑diem specialized transportation agreement (Cottage 7) at $200 per day for up to two students for 180 days; staff said those items are included in the packet and posted online.
What’s next: Most personnel and MOU items were presented for approval; the board indicated the budget‑vote meeting on June 16 would include final action items.
