Student representative Jayla (S2) and junior representative Olivia (S9) told the board that the first day of school was Aug. 26, teachers used modified schedules in the first three days to teach new policies, and the “lunch and learn” period allowed students to use time productively for study, rest or supervised activities. "I think it's a great period for kids to get their stuff done," Jayla said. Olivia noted options for students to use the gym during lunch and learn.
Presenters (S7 and S1) reviewed new‑teacher induction (Aug. 12–15), district in‑service activities, curriculum updates (Amplify CKLA, DIBELS 8, Read 180, Math 180, IXL, and a new School AI platform) and positive‑behavior supports. The presenters reported 11 new teachers districtwide and multiple county induction events.
The third‑day enrollment snapshot presented by the administration showed 1,535 students across the district: Peters Elementary total 386; Slatington 480; Middle School 236; High School 433. The district said enrollment was up slightly from the prior year's snapshot of 1,517. Administrators also reported 43 students enrolled in the Bulldog Academy cyber program and 120 students attending LCTI programs this year.
Board members praised the district for piloting the lunch and learn structure and asked administration to report on early progress; one board member requested an update in a month or two on outcomes and usage.
