The Central Public School District board on July 22 introduced Jeff Horton as the district's new superintendent and heard updates about meeting streaming and construction milestones.
Chair said the board earlier approved Horton's contract and that he has been working with staff for the past few weeks. "He's been doing a lot of talking with the staff and just trying to work on morale," the chair said, crediting Horton with weekly updates and outreach.
Superintendent Schachar briefed the board on operational changes: the district is piloting recording/streaming of board meetings using an OWL camera, with recorded meetings to be uploaded to the district website for community access. Schachar also gave a construction update: phases 1 and 2 are in punch-list stage, the field house opened softly about three weeks before the meeting, and phase 4 (middle school) work continues with paint and door installations. A grand opening for the field house is scheduled for Aug. 12.
What happens next: recorded meetings will be posted online when processing is complete; staff will finalize grand opening logistics for Aug. 12 and keep the board informed of any construction completion changes.
